Jonas D. De Basabe

Biography

Jonas D. De Basabe was born in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, in 1975. He studied Computer Engineering at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) and has an M.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences from CICESE. He joined the University of Texas at Austin in 2004, where he got an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computational and Applied Mathematics. He has been a Professor in the Seismology Department at the Earth Sciences Division of CICESE since 2010.

When Jonas was an undergraduate student at UABC, he joined Compañerismo Estudiantil (COMPA), the Mexican evangelical student fellowship, participating in many roles, including student leader and staff. His participation in this fellowship was critical for his spiritual formation.
