Ignacio Silva

Biography

Ignacio Silva is Associate Professor of Theology and Science at the Philosophy Institute, Universidad Austral. He holds a DPhil in Theology (2010) and an MSt in Science and Religion (2006) from the University of Oxford (UK). He also holds a License degree in Philosophy from the Universidad Católica Argentina (2002). He is the author of Science and Providence in a World of Contingency (forthcoming, Routledge 2021) and Indeterminismo en la Naturaleza y Mecánica Cuántica: Wener Heisenberg y Tomás de Aquino (Eunsa 2011), editor of Human and Divine Providence: Philosophical, Psychological and Theological Approaches (with Simon Kopf, Routledge 2020) and Latin American Perspectives on Science and Religion (Pickering&Chatto 2014), and author of numerous journal articles in his field. He was Research Fellow at Harris Manchester College and the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion (University of Oxford), with projects on special divine action, and on science, philosophy and theology in Latin America. Prof Silva is member of the International Society for Science and Religion, and of the scientific and advisory boards of several international academic journals, such as Scientia et Fides, Studium. Filosofía y Teología, Quaerentibus. Teología y Ciencias, and TheoLogica.
